Sophia Matsagkou live

The distinguished pianist Sophia Matsagkou will appear on Linto Stage Wednesday, April 27 2016, at 22:00. The Icelander violinist Björk Óskarsdóttir will accompany her on stage as a guest. They will be performing the piece Le Cygne from Carnival des Animaux by C. Saint Saens.
 
Sopfia Matsagkou studied with the internationally renowned pianist and educationalist Agathe Limoni. She is a Hellenic Conservatory graduate (Soloist Diploma with honors and first prize) and a Schola Cantorum of Paris graduate (Diplôme Supérieur and Diplôme de Virtuosité with honors). Also she has completed her theoretical studies being awarded with Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue Degrees with honors (class of G. Aravidis).
 
She has participated in numerous national and international competitions, receiving First Prize in the Hellenic Youth Choir/Orchestra National Piano Competition, First Prize at the International Piano Competition The Muse, Second Prize in the Piano Competition Varcellona Pozzo di Gotto and more. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
She has appeared in Athens (Athens Concert Hall, Badminton Theater, Half Note Jazz Club, Parnassos, and Athenaeum), Poros, Kozani, Tinos, Argos and in countries such as France (Paris), Belgium (Antwerp), Italy (Venice, Sicily, Perugia), Russia (Moscow) and the UK (Hebden Bridge International Piano Festival).
 
She has collaborated with the Sinfonietta Orchestra of Athens, performing the Piano Concerto in D Minor of J.S. Bach's and the Concerto for Two Pianos in C Minor of J. S. Bach as well as the Concerto for Two Pianos in E Major recession W.A. Mozart as a piano duet with the soloist Sotiria Kitsou, under the direction of conductor George Aravidis.
 
He has recorded for the Third Programme of the Greek Radio.
 
She is a student of the Philosophy, Education and Psychology Department of the Philosophy School of Athens while teaching in the Maroussi Hellenic Conservatory.
 
Other than her impressive resume, the most important fact is the audience’s feelings when she touches her fingers on the piano: a boundless respect and a small contrition.
