Known for his warm sound, his lyricism and the special relationship that he develops with the audience at his concerts, Craig Bailey is one of the most active alto saxophonists in New York.
A permanent member of the Ray Charles Orchestra from 1987 to 2004 and of the drummer’s Akira Tana and bassist’s Rufus Reid quartet, he has worked with leading jazz musicians such as Tom Harrell, Bobby Watson, Art Blakey, Benny Carter, George Coleman, Al Grey, Mongo Santamaria, Ray Mantilla, Slide Hampton, Jimmy Heath, Clifford Jordan, Charlie Persip, Panama Francis, , Bernard Purdie, Ray Bryant, Ronnie Matthews, Chico O'Farrill, Hilton Ruiz, Leon Thomas, Bill Hardman and more.
After two years, he meets again with one of the most important Greek musicians Kostas Maginas on the guitar, in order to present a tribute to the legendary Ray Charles music, who left his mark on an entire era with his performances and equated as no one else has, his name with the black American musical tradition of soul, the blues, gospel and jazz. The two outstanding musicians, Agamemnon Mardas on bass and acoustic, and Christos Germenoglou on drums will accompany them.
