Gary Bartz Quartet

icon
His music and the sound bring a lasting stylistic and updated freshness on post-bop jazz sounds, from the 60s until today. This happens because the Grammy-awarded and much-recorded saxophonist, Gary Bartz, has contributed like few others in these developments. Starting his musical career at a time when modern jazz became extensively popular, Bartz performed beside musicians like Charles Mingus, Art Blakey, Max Roach, McCoy Tyner, Woody Shaw and Miles Davis, the man who introduced him to electric music and gave him the opportunity to follow “groovier” directions and dimensions in the early 70s.

After a break in the 80s, Gary Bartz returned to the stage as an accomplished artist, with deeply rooted jazz sounds and music references to poetry and literature (as in classic the album “I've Known Rivers”).

With more than 40 solo albums and 200 participations in other recordings, Bartz is an authentic jazz master.

From 13 until 16 November 2015 Bartz will perform live at Half Note Jazz Club.
